Role Overview:

As a Staff Android Engineer for Mozilla, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the web. With mobile becoming the primary way for billions to access the internet, our mission to deliver a secure, transparent, and user-centric browser is more important than ever. You will be responsible for designing, debugging, building, and shipping medium to large-scale Android solutions that promote a healthy and inclusive internet. You will also work closely with a diverse and geographically distributed team to drive engineering decisions and feature development while upholding our values of openness, innovation, and privacy.

What You’ll Do:

– Design, debug, build, and ship medium to large-scale Android solutions that promote a healthy and inclusive internet
– Drive engineering decisions and feature development with a focus on delivering user value
– Collaborate closely with partners to understand, define, and clarify requirements
– Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members
– Define and uphold quality standards through code reviews, testing, and coding practices
– Work closely with specialist Gecko teams to bring browser functionality to Android
– Provide solutions and feedback to improve our Android solutions and support Mozilla’s manifesto
– Mentor other developers and work as part of a team to deliver high-quality code on time

What You Bring:

– Extensive experience building complex applications for a diverse user base using Java, Kotlin, and/or C++
– Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions collaboratively
– Passion for building excellent products and a sense of ownership from design to bug fixing
– Familiarity with modern programming practices such as code review, unit testing, and automation
– Experience with Rust programming is a plus
– Ability to lead and work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
– Willingness to ask questions and propose new ideas
– Desire to work with and learn from an outstanding team of individuals
