Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our Credit team. This team manages credit risk activities for our lending products, including Student Loan Refinance, Private Student Loan, Personal Loan, Credit Card, and Mortgage. The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating data to develop and propose credit risk strategies and models for our lending products, with a focus on Personal Loans. This role will also involve collaborating with cross-functional teams and using quantitative and analytical skills to drive revenue, control risk, and support the company’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

– Develop and implement credit underwriting strategies for Personal Loans that align with our risk appetite
– Monitor and analyze risk trends within the portfolio to identify opportunities for strategy enhancements
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver successful business results
– Control risk and drive performance outcomes by mitigating loss and responsibly growing revenue
– Document and communicate results, escalate issues as necessary, and identify opportunities for improvement
– Stay informed about industry trends and bring new ways of thinking, data sources, technologies, and capabilities to the company

Qualifications:

– 5+ years of relevant experience
– Business acumen and experience in the consumer lending industry
– Direct experience in credit strategy analytics, including strategy development, P&L, and implementation validation
– Strong analytical skills and experience working with customer performance data, bureau attributes, and other third-party variables
– Proficient in Excel, SQL, and Python
– Ability to synthesize and communicate complex analysis to business partners and senior management
– High motivation, eagerness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
– Knowledge of analytical and modeling techniques such as decision trees, regression, and test design
– Preferred: Experience with innovative data sources such as cash flow or alternative data
– Preferred: Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science

Compensation and Benefits:

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
