Job Description:
At Mob Entertainment, we are storytellers and every visual effect we create is meant to bring those stories to life. We are seeking a Senior VFX Artist who excels at crafting realistic, physically grounded effects, from subtle environmental details to cinematic moments. As a Senior VFX Artist, you will be responsible for designing and implementing high-quality, real-time visual effects in Unreal Engine, collaborating with various teams to enhance storytelling and gameplay, and mentoring junior artists.
Key Responsibilities:
– Design and implement high-quality, realistic real-time visual effects in Unreal Engine, including atmospheric details, gameplay-driven effects, and cinematic moments.
– Utilize advanced Niagara systems and custom module scripts to create unique, physically plausible effects.
– Develop and optimize materials to support VFX needs across environments and gameplay.
– Handle Chaos destruction workflows, integrating destructible assets and dynamic simulations into gameplay.
– Collaborate closely with design, art, and engineering teams to ensure effects enhance storytelling and gameplay.
– Integrate effects into Blueprints, prototype interactions, and fine-tune for responsiveness and immersion.
– Mentor junior artists, sharing knowledge and raising the overall quality bar for the team.
Requirements:
– 7+ years of professional experience creating real-time VFX for games, with at least two shipped titles in a senior or principal role (console or PC).
– Expertise in Unreal Engine, including Niagara, Blueprints, and performance optimization.
– Proficiency in Chaos destruction pipeline, with the ability to build, simulate, and integrate dynamic, realistic destruction at scale.
– Strong experience using Houdini to create procedural destruction assets, simulate debris and environmental effects, and generate flipbooks or mesh caches for real-time VFX.
– Ability to create custom Niagara modules and scripts to achieve physically accurate behaviors.
– Strong artistic sensibility and understanding of how to make effects feel real and impactful.
– Passion for mentoring and supporting junior artists.
– Collaborative, proactive, and passionate about pushing technical and visual fidelity.
– A portfolio showcasing a wide range of high-quality, realistic real-time VFX, with a focus on destruction and environmental effects.
Bonus Skills:
– Experience with HLSL or custom shader authoring.
– Familiarity with EmberGen for realistic simulation-driven flipbooks or elements.
– Strong skills in VFX performance profiling and optimization for console and PC.
– Knowledge of developing custom Houdini setups or tools to improve VFX production pipelines.
