We are seeking a talented Senior Data Scientist to join our Data Science & Engineering (DSE) team, which consists of analytics engineers, data scientists, and software engineers with diverse educational backgrounds. Our team is responsible for enabling data-driven decision making and building data products at Wealthsimple.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will specifically focus on crypto products and work on high-priority initiatives to ensure our product strategy is grounded in data and analytics. This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation in the FinTech industry, democratizing access to cryptocurrency and empowering Canadians on their journey to financial freedom.
Responsibilities:
– Build a high-quality and scalable data warehouse to power decision making
– Leverage machine learning and algorithms to develop smarter financial products
– Use decision science to understand the impact of business decisions
– Analyze user behavior to optimize product performance
– Develop and implement experiments to evaluate new features and product changes
– Apply causal inference methods in non-experimental settings
– Use machine learning algorithms to segment users and personalize product experiences
– Develop and maintain core data models and pipelines to ensure data quality and accessibility
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
– Partner with Product, Product Marketing, and Engineering teams to support Wealthsimple’s highest priority efforts
– Build robust, efficient, and integrated data models in a cloud data warehouse
– Apply statistical techniques and build machine learning models to solve real-life product problems and inform product decisions and strategies
– Apply software engineering best practices to the analytics code base
– Translate business requirements into data models and analysis to answer key business questions and inform strategic decisions
– Continuously seek the simplest and most effective solutions
– Take ownership and deliver results
– Work remotely from anywhere in Canada (our offices are located in Toronto)
Requirements:
– Strong business acumen and product sense
– Excellent Python and SQL skills, experience with Pandas, scikit-learn, numpy, and Jupyter
– Strong understanding of statistics and machine learning algorithms
– Ability to collaborate with different stakeholders and adjust to changing priorities
– Exceptional communication skills, able to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical teams
– Eager to teach and learn from your team
