About the Role:
We are seeking a talented Contract Illustrator (Stylized Cartoon) to join our team for a short-term project involving an established cartoon IP. This role will require you to create cover art and other illustrations within the established art style for an upcoming webcomic release.
Key Responsibilities:
– Create 2D illustrations that closely match the existing established art style
– Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders on the project
– Communicate effectively with the Storygrounds team through Slack or other chosen communication methods
– Meet agreed-upon milestones
– Follow provided style guides, reference art, and feedback to ensure consistency with the current visual direction
– Deliver clean and production-ready artwork, including correctly formatted and exported files in requested specifications (e.g., layered PSDs, high-resolution PNGs, etc.)
Qualifications:
– A portfolio that showcases your expertise in imitating various 2D cartoon art styles, such as Adventure Time, Rick and Morty, or Bojack Horseman
– Excellent skills in Photoshop
– Strong communication skills in English
– Ability to reproduce an existing stylized, flat-color cartoon aesthetic, including clean and bold outlines with smooth curves, flat fills with high-contrast surreal palettes, and simplified yet expressive characters and poses
– Ability to deliver clear and professional communication in English
Nice to Have:
– Experience working in a production environment, such as video games or animation
– Ability to adapt quickly to feedback and replicate established styles without deviation
– Experience collaborating with remote teams using tools like Slack, Dropbox, and similar
– Interest in indie comics, experimental/absurdist art styles, or alternative storytelling formats
