As the Director of Engineering, you will lead and grow a dynamic engineering organization focused on evolving and scaling our Product & Growth platform areas. In the Product Platform department, our goal is to build reliable and scalable full-stack components and tooling that enable Vanta’s product teams to ship quickly, efficiently, and securely across our entire engineering organization. You will play a pivotal role in driving innovation for Vanta’s engineers, customers, and business, scaling high-performing teams, and shaping the technical future of our products.

Responsibilities:

– Collaborate closely with Design, Product, and Engineering teams to build foundational building blocks that accelerate product engineering and bring our vision to market.
– Lead multiple teams to consistently and sustainably deliver results while maintaining a high standard of execution and quality.
– Proactively identify, define, and lead strategic initiatives that align engineering capabilities with business outcomes.
– Guide technical strategy and ensure that your teams are creating long-term value in line with Vanta’s business priorities.
– Build a high-impact engineering team by coaching, mentoring, and creating an environment where your teams and managers can do their best work and deliver for the business.
– Play a key role in influencing and shaping Vanta’s engineering culture and strategy.

Requirements:

– 7+ years of experience in engineering leadership, with a deep understanding of complex products and/or platforms in a high-growth environment.
– Experience leading and scaling engineering organizations of 35+ individuals with multiple teams, and a proven track record of growing high-performing teams beyond this initial size.
– Passion for leading, coaching, and building an inspired team by setting a vision, unlocking potential, and driving compassionate accountability.
– Business acumen paired with the ability to apply platform principles to enable significant product innovation and results.
– Strong decision-making skills and the ability to effectively balance ambiguity, available data, speed, and quality.
– Excellent communication and storytelling abilities, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and engineering partners at all levels.
– Ability to operate at multiple levels, from developing vision and strategy to driving execution.
