Data Analytics Engineer – Treatwell

Treatwell, Europe’s leading booking platform for hair and beauty services, is seeking a skilled and driven Data Analytics Engineer to join our dynamic and diverse Data Team. As a Data Analytics Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping our future by ensuring our data models and analytical capabilities keep pace with the rapid growth of our business.

As a member of the Data Domain Team, you will take ownership of delivering end-to-end data products that provide valuable insights to analysts, product managers, and key stakeholders. You will work closely with various teams to understand their needs and translate them into actionable data assets.

In this role, you will use your expertise in SQL and data modeling to deliver data in the best format through self-service tools. We value open-source platforms such as DBT, Airbtye, Docker, Gitlab, and Airflow orchestration in our tech stack. Our services run on a modern cloud platform using Amazon AWS, including Redshift, ECS, Lambda, Cloudwatch, S3, EMR, EC2, and Athena. We also incorporate third-party tools like Fivetran, Monte Carlo, Looker, JIRA, and Slack, while continuously evaluating new technologies to enhance our data strategy.

Responsibilities:

– Collaborate with various business teams to understand their needs and create relevant data assets that reveal performance and key action points within their areas
– Perform data modeling of core data assets using SQL, DBT, and LookML
– Contribute to the strategy and design of data models and the data warehouse
– Support the discovery and integration of new data from various sources (OLTP, APIs, S3)
– Empower analysts and business users through self-service tools, education, and documentation
– Define and manage data quality, documentation, observability, and governance of core data models
– Manage data exposures in our BI Tool, Looker, ensuring smooth delivery of data to the business
– Automate repetitive analyses and tasks whenever possible
– Foster a data-driven culture and approach to decision-making
– Collaborate with analysts, stakeholders, and data engineers on broader analytics projects
– Assist with both ad-hoc requests and the automation of regular reporting for the business

Requirements:

– Strong experience with data modeling and data design concepts, especially Dimensional Models (Kimball, Inmon, Data Marts) but also OBT
– Excellent SQL skills with a focus on writing performant queries. Experience in other programming languages, such as Python, is a plus
– A passionate team player who enjoys collaborating and pairing to achieve shared goals
– Articulate communicator comfortable discussing technical matters with both engineers and stakeholders at all levels of the business
– Experienced in working with and understanding various business functions such as product, marketing, commercial, and finance teams
– Creative problem solver with an understanding of when a minimally viable solution can deliver 80% of the required needs ahead of a fully perfect solution
– Proficient with version control principles, git, and the command-line interface
– Familiarity with ETL (ELT) Tools such as DBT (preferred), GCP, SSIS, Databricks, Airflow
– Analytical mindset with exposure to data warehouses from a previous role
– Experienced with BI Visualization tools
– Prior experience using DBT and LookML is a plus
– Fluent in English
