Credit Strategy – Data Science Lead
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Credit Strategy Lead to join our dynamic team at SoFi. As a Credit Strategy Lead, you will be responsible for managing credit risk activities for our lending products, including credit strategies and policies for new account origination and portfolio management, collections and recovery strategies and operations, and risk and operational data science and analytics. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design data-driven strategies that align with our risk appetite and prioritize our members’ interests.
The ideal candidate will possess a data-driven analytics background and strategic acumen, with the ability to draw insights from data and inform decisions that support our overarching strategic goals. They will also bring new ideas, technologies, and capabilities to SoFi.
Responsibilities:
– Develop and propose value-added credit risk strategies and models for SoFi’s lending products, including Personal Loan, Student Loan Refinance, Private Student Loan, and Credit Card
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive revenue, control risk, and provide value to the company and consumers
– Architect pre-screen and underwriting strategies
– Conduct deep analysis to inform lending strategies, utilizing internal, bureau, third-party, and alternative data sources
– Monitor the performance of strategies and portfolios, document and communicate results, and escalate issues as necessary
– Identify gaps and opportunities and drive actions to control risk and drive performance outcomes
– Stay informed on industry trends and innovations and bring new ideas and capabilities to the team
Requirements:
– 4+ years of related experience
– Business acumen and work experience in the consumer lending industry, specifically loans or credit cards
– Direct experience in credit strategy analytical life cycle, including strategy and decision tree development, presentation, implementation validation, and post-implementation monitoring
– Proven analytical skills using customer performance data, bureau attributes, and other third-party variables to solve business problems
– Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and Python
– Ability to synthesize and communicate analysis to business partners and senior management
– High motivation, eagerness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
– Knowledge of analytical and modeling techniques such as Decision Trees, regression, logistic regression, A/B Testing, and Tableau
– Preferred: 4+ years of consumer lending credit strategy work experience
– Preferred: Experience in analyzing and testing credit strategies or models to meet fair lending requirements
– Preferred: Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science
