Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Engineering Manager to join our team in Manila, Philippines. This individual will be responsible for managing a team of engineers, overseeing development, and collaborating closely with Product Managers, Designers, and the Agile Delivery Manager. The Engineering Manager will play a critical role in driving technical excellence and building strong connections across our primarily UK-based team.
Key Responsibilities:
– Manage a team of 4 engineers, including recruitment and onboarding
– Oversee the development and delivery of features within the assigned product area
– Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and the Agile Delivery Manager
– Implement and maintain Scrum methodology with 2-week sprints
– Conduct regular one-on-ones and team meetings
– Participate in bi-weekly Stakeholder Demos
– Manage technical debt and refactoring efforts
– Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning
Requirements:
– Proven experience in engineering management or team leadership
– Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and Kanban
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to mentor and develop engineering talent
– Experience with continuous integration and deployment practices
– Familiarity with cloud technologies, particularly AWS
– Understanding of microservices architecture and containerization (Kubernetes)
Preferred Skills and Experience:
– Experience with PHP and Laravel framework
– Familiarity with AWS services, particularly RDS and EKS
– Knowledge of database technologies, including MySQL and Redis
– Experience with or willingness to learn Kafka and Databricks
– Understanding of frontend technologies and frameworks
Additional Requirements for Manila-based Candidates:
– Timezone flexibility: Must be comfortable working with some overlap with UK business hours (GMT/BST) to collaborate effectively with the majority of the team
– Location: Must be legally eligible to work in the Philippines
– Passport Requirement: Must hold a valid Philippine passport (for identity verification and compliance with Remote.com)
– Language: Must be fluent in English (written and spoken) to collaborate with our global team
