Position: Engineering Manager at Stellar Health

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager who can balance technical contributions with people management. In this role, you will work closely with engineering leadership to drive the technical direction of the Platform team during our next phase of growth. You will collaborate cross-functionally to support the launch of new products and features by building the data architecture that informs and drives insights at Stellar.

This will enable downstream users to improve patient access to healthcare. The Platform Team:
The Platform team is responsible for external integrations, data ingestion, normalization, and transformation. They also handle data quality, performance measurement, and enable advanced analytics and data science applications. Key highlights and technical challenges of this team include handling data from 10M+ patients on a regular basis, building and maintaining over 60 integrations, maintaining high data safety and quality, and continually improving data ingestion processes to lower costs and increase efficiency.
What You’ll Do:
– Own the technical direction and impact of the Platform team, ensuring its capabilities, quality, and capacity.
– Manage and grow the team, actively participating in recruiting and retention efforts.
– Write production-quality code and provide effective feedback by reviewing others’ work.
– Set consistent standards for code, testing, and bug fixes.
– Contribute to Stellar’s Engineering Culture by participating in technical and leadership forums.
– Collaborate with senior engineering and product leaders to align on product roadmaps, specifications, and priorities.
Requirements:
– At least 10 years of total experience, with recent hands-on experience writing production-level code (preferably in Python, Java, C++, or Go).
– At least 3 years of experience managing software development teams with involvement in system architecture, design, and performance.
– Experience in a platform or infrastructure role, with expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
– Strong knowledge of relational databases, such as PostgreSQL.
– Experience with Django or a similar web framework.

Pay:
The salary range for this role is $220,000 – $260,000 and will include performance-based variable compensation. The specific salary will depend on the individual’s skills and experience and how they compare to other employees in the same role. At Stellar, we believe in rewarding performance and offer opportunities for salary growth over time. We reserve the right to change our compensation bands at any time.
