Job Description:
As a Senior Software Engineer – AI Backend at Relyance AI, you will play a crucial role in strategizing, driving, and executing initiatives that connect the output of NLP and AI models with our product. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and build a flexible, robust, and scalable NLP backend to maximize the impact of AI for our customers. Your attention to detail, adaptability to constant change, and forward-thinking approach will be essential in constructing the foundation for a complex system with rapidly evolving data. This role requires a fast and scrappy mindset to address present needs while also planning for the future.
Responsibilities:
– Develop and execute a roadmap for a high-velocity AI development system that maintains stability on the product side
– Make customer-centric prioritization decisions to balance immediate impact with long-term bets
– Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure alignment and drive collaboration
– Architect systems that balance scrappiness for current needs with a forward-thinking outlook to improve and scale our infrastructure
– Continuously seek opportunities to automate and build tools to lower operational barriers
– Work hands-on with the team to solve complex problems with simple, pragmatic solutions
– Learn and become proficient in AI technologies such as LLMs, BERT, T5, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and model training and data curation workflows
Requirements:
– 7+ years of experience in building complex backends, particularly those dealing with complex data
– Expertise in Python
– Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and OO software design and implementation
– Ability to learn and work across the full stack, from ML and NLP to cloud infrastructure and UI frontend
– Creative and strategic mindset with a focus on building powerful, robust, and flexible systems
– “Get stuff done” attitude and enjoy being hands-on in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
– Proven ability to influence product direction and motivate engineers to develop simple, pragmatic solutions to complex problems
– Excellent communication skills, including active listening and empathy, and a collaborative approach to earn the trust of peers
