Position: Lead Product Designer, Growth

Location: London (Hybrid) OR Remote in the UK

Salary: £90,000 – £110,000 (depending on experience) + Benefits

About the Role:

As a Lead Product Designer on the Growth team, you will be surrounded by an experienced, passionate, and supportive team of product designers, user researchers, and writers. You will play a critical role in improving our community of practice by improving craft skills, leading rituals, and giving great feedback. You will be embedded in a cross-functional product squad and responsible for all design contributions, from initial discovery and user journey mapping to final UI design details. You will also work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Data Scientists to ensure a collaborative and seamless design process. Our design and product leadership team is deeply connected to the work of each squad and collective, ensuring alignment with long-term strategy, business goals, and experience quality.

Responsibilities:

– Design and deliver high-quality, intuitive, and accessible user experiences
– Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a collaborative design process
– Advocate for appropriate design decisions based on technical constraints, experimentation strategy, and business risk
– Conduct user research and analysis to deeply understand the customers and their needs
– Create and test hypotheses, and interpret user behavior
– Collaborate with team members to solve customer problems that span multiple business areas
– Focus on delivering outcomes and solutions as an individual contributor and cross-functional partner
– Utilize new technology, such as AI, in the design process
– Create modern and engaging prototypes to a high degree of precision and quality
– Embrace failure as a learning experience and use it to move forward

Requirements:

– A designer who balances quality with humility and is open-minded about alternative directions
– Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
– Data-centric and comfortable working with data partners or wrangling data themselves
– Experience with experimentation and creating hypotheses
– Comfortable working in ambiguity and at a fast pace
– Motivated by cross-functional ownership and collaboration on customer problems
– Focused on delivering outcomes and solutions
– Passion for leveraging new technology in the design process
– Ability to create delightful and engaging prototypes
– Strong foundation in product design with a creative and unique approach
– Motivated by failure as a learning experience
– Experience with design sprints and scrappy prototyping
– Ability to pivot quickly based on data and experience
– Experience with building products at scale in multiple geographies

Interview Process:

– Initial call (30 minutes): A video chat with our hiring team to discuss general suitability and fit for Monzo.
– Craft/Case study interview (1 hour): Present one case study to two members of the team, including our Director of Product Design for Growth and another Lead Designer.
– Final loop (1.5 hours): Two interviews covering impact and teamwork, typically held on the same day via video calls.
